In accordance with the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students, the Longview Independent School District will consider students in grades K-8 who are not yet identified as gifted and talented for nomination and screening for gifted and talented program services.

Beginning on September 17, 2014, anyone interested in the educational welfare of these students may nominate them for assessment. Nomination and consent for assessment forms are available at all elementary and middle schools in the counselor’s office.

The forms for students in grades 3-8 must be returned to the counselor by Wednesday, October 10, 2014. Assessment will begin on October 13, 2014, for 3-8 students.

Nominations for students in grades K-2 students must be returned to the counselor by Friday, October 24, 2014. Assessment for K-2 will begin on November 3, 2014.

For more information about the screening and identification process, parents may contact the school counselors at their children’s campuses or Beth Bassett, Director of Instruction K-12, at (903) 381-2268.
